Todryk Garden Report - 9/1/14 - The Saga of the Horned Tomato Worm

This weeks Todryk Garden Report focuses on the epic battle of man and worm. It is an age old struggle, as old as time it's self. Man tries to grow awesome plants, Horned Tomato Worm eats the crap out of them. Man decides Tomato Worm must die. And so the cycle continues. Who will win?

IT DAMN WELL BETTER BE ME

It all started last week when I was looking at my plants and found this:

Oh The Humanity

I said "NO!!! This cannot be. I WILL VANQUISH YOU, NOBEL PEPPER, I WILL VANQUISH YOU"
The war has begun. I went back out to the plant and found one of these on my big Cajun Belle plant:

Henceforth known as "The Enemy"

The squishing has begun. Before the week was out I found two more; one on my big Cajun Belle and on on the Anaheim chili. By the time I found the one on the on the Anaheim chili there was one lone chili remaining. They were mocking my pain and anguish. "THEY MUST DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", I screamed into the night (alright, I screamed a couple of other things that I can't repeat on a family blog).

So today I looked up a recipe for an organic way to kill them. I found a video and made up a batch. But first, I had to make the new Todryk Garden Report. Then, armed with my spray bottle, I went forth to vanquish and avenge. And what do I find, you may ask????? The stupid little #$#^%#%#%# one you see above, on my small Cajun Belle plant. In looking back at the video you can see him, mocking me, wiggling it's horn as if to give me the finger. BUT NOT TODAY. I pulled him off, but instead of squishing him, I laid him on the ground and squirted the crap out of him with my squirt bottle of organic worm messer-upper. And what happened?????? He stopped moving. I love the smell of Napalm in the morning, it smells like victory.

I have sprayed the plants now. It is supposed to prevent the worms from eating them. If it works I will post the video and recipe next week. I will keep you appraised. Please feel free to comment below.

My Little Beauty

Well,  here is the first fully ripened Cajun Belle pepper off of our bigger plant. I will be making salsa from it and some other ones this weekend. I'll let you know how good it is.

Todryk Garden Report - 8/9/14

This is the latest Todryk Garden Report. We have had great success from the using the rock dust recommended by growingyourgreens.com. We got our rock dust and sea minerals from boogiebrew.com and it is making a big difference, especially with the peppers. We will soon be using the compost tea from Boogie Brew. Shout out to the owner of Boogie Brew, Joel, who talked with me for a long time on the phone the other day. Great conversation. Thank you to everyone who keeps watching and please subscribe to the Youtube channel and this blog. Thanks.

Our Latest Edition

The Cajun Belle is fast becoming my favorite pepper. They are small and when red and ripe are sweeter than a red bell pepper, but with a little bit of heat. Not as hot as a jalapeƱo, but with more bite than you would expect from a sweet pepper, to me they are the perfect combination. So when I saw this at Lowe's the other day I had to go back for her. She already had 4 to 5 big peppers and lots of blossoms, so I am excited. Look for her in upcoming episodes of the Todryk Garden Report.
